The Unggai is a community of indigenous people that resides in the Unggai-Benu district. One of their traditions is the facial tattoos that some of the elder female members still bear, which signify their belonging to specific social groups.
Another ancient custom that's still practiced is the courtship songs. Young tribe members who are in search of a mate would gather around a fire, drink, and sing certain types of songs. The tradition is still carried on today, and older people sing the songs for entertainment.
